Dear Sadhakas,
In our spiritual journey, we must recognize that not everything we perceive with our conscious mind is the full reality. Just as the sages of ancient wisdom have pointed out, our experiences unfold at various levels-what is seen consciously (bodha), what is partially filtered by the subconscious (upabodha), and what remains hidden or ignored (abodha). Each moment, each event, and each teaching is processed differently based on our own awareness and maturity. And this is why, in sadhana, we must proceed with utmost caution, seeking the support of the divine forces-the Devatas-who guide and protect us on this sacred path.
The scriptures repeatedly mention the need for divine approval of any Devata before worshiping them, for when we rush ahead without their consent or understanding, we open ourselves to doshas-errors and imbalances-that can harm our progress. It’s not merely the practice that matters, but how it is perceived, processed, and executed by the aspirant. The Shakti, the divine energy that flows within and around us, governs what we should understand, what we can grasp, and how we move forward. Let us reflect on how this manifests in different personalities and astrological influences.
(Bg. 10.10)
Experience 1:
In my experience, I’ve observed that some Sadhakas tend to make a hasty approach. They are quick-witted, restless, and curious, always seeking knowledge but often moving too fast for its own good. In sadhana, this can manifest as a hasty approach-wanting to jump from one practice to another, from one teaching to the next, without fully absorbing the essence of what has been given.
“Dear Seekers, sadhana is not a race to the finish line. Patience is key. If you rush through, without allowing the teachings to sink in at all levels of your awareness, you risk practicing without the full support of the Devatas, and this can lead to confusion or unexpected results. Slow down, Take time, and let the wisdom unfold naturally.”
Experience 2:
My other observation is that some Sadhakas often have a tendency to seek shortcuts in spiritual practice. Maya, an illusion and quick gains, can make you believe that skipping steps or finding an easier route will lead to faster enlightenment. But let me remind you, shortcuts in sadhana can be dangerous. In the spiritual realm, boundaries are there to guide and protect. When you try to bypass the foundational steps, thinking that you are being clever, you might instead end up trapped in the very illusions.
“A real spiritual progress is never achieved through shortcuts. It comes through steady, disciplined practice, aligned with divine support.”
Experience 3:
I have also seen many aspirants who unknowingly mix various sadhanas. This can surely cause confusion about what is true and what isn’t. Such individuals might take bits and pieces from different paths-perhaps a mantra from one tradition, a ritual from another-thinking that this fusion will enhance their practice. But mixing sadhanas without proper understanding is highly dangerous. Just as mixing incompatible medicines can harm the body, mixing different spiritual practices can create imbalances in the mind, body, and soul.
“Each sadhana is a complete path on its own, and blending them without guidance can dilute their power and bring unintended consequences.”
The Importance of Divine Consent and Maturity in Practice:
Finally, remember, spiritual maturity is key. Just as a child cannot understand the complexities of adult life, an aspirant who is not yet ready cannot grasp the full depth of spiritual wisdom. This is why, over time, as you grow in your practice, you will find that you ask better, more meaningful questions. The right question brings the right answer, and only with the right answer can you progress safely in your sadhana. Without divine consent-without the blessings of the Devatas-your efforts may be in vain, and worse, you may find yourself entangled in difficulties that could have been avoided. So seek their support with sincerity and humility, and know that they are always there, guiding you towards the light.
Dear seekers, each of you has a unique spiritual journey, influenced by your karma, planetary placements, and inner tendencies. But the goal is the same-to unite with the divine. To do this, you must walk the path with awareness, patience, and devotion. Avoid the temptations of haste, shortcuts, and mixing practices. Trust in the wisdom of your Guru and the grace of the Devatas, and let them guide you toward the ultimate truth.
May the divine energies bless your path and protect you always.
